‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Vignette Highlights Practical Stunts and Action

Spidey Action 1

Last August, Tom Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton and the Spider-Man: Brand New Day team filmed on the streets of New York City. Today, Sony Pictures released another vignette, highlighting the practical production, stunts and action in the film. In the video, Cretton explains that the scenes filmed in New York make up the opening sequence of the movie, and Holland shares that it gave fans a unique chance to truly be part of the film.

The Opening Sequence Comes Into Focus

As I mentioned when the vignette of that first day on set in New York was released, it was a genius plan to first even film on the streets, and then leverage that into an extensive marketing campaign. The latest vignette only builds on that brilliance, as we get more details on just what they were filming and how that scene is a reflection of the larger filmmaking approach.

New York Remains Central to Spider-Man

Spider-Man is the superhero for the people, and Holland is doing an incredible job embodying that idea. Cretton, who is known for his ability to focus on intimate character moments, even in larger scale stories, is the perfect director to take Holland’s Peter Parker to another level.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases July 31, 2026 and the hype will only continue to build.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Official Synopsis

After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way HomeSpider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
