Hulu has released the official trailer for The Land, a new drama series from This Is Us and Paradise creator Dan Fogelman. Set within the world of the NFL, the series follows two families whose personal and professional lives are intertwined with the future of a fictional version of the Cleveland Browns.
After several disappointing seasons, Browns head coach Danny Roarke (Christopher Meloni) faces one final opportunity to turn the team around. His hopes rest on a newly drafted quarterback from Ohio State who also happens to be his son. Meanwhile, team owner Hal Durkin (William H. Macy) must decide which of his two daughters should inherit control of the franchise, creating another family conflict behind the scenes.
The Land Brings Family Drama to the NFL
The series explores the pressures facing the team’s leadership, players and families as the Browns attempt to deliver a winning season for their loyal fans. The ensemble cast includes Christopher Meloni, Mandy Moore, Chace Crawford, Sam Corlett, Tanner Zagarino, Chloe Bennet, Bridget Moynahan, William H. Macy and Omar Epps.
Meloni is of course best known for his work as one of the pillars of Law & Order. It’s rare to see someone so entrenched in one series be convincing in another role, but this one looks like a perfect fit for Meloni. He actively looks like he could be a professional football coach for the NFL.
Fans of This Is Us and Paradise know that Fogelman excels in telling family drama stories, and The Land should be no exception. Putting that drama in the already drama-filled world of the NFL makes a lot of sense and creates a lot of cross-over appeal. Of course, for the poor fans of the Browns, one has to wonder if this series will be something to get excited about, or another source of shame.
The Land is created and executive produced by Dan Fogelman, The Land is produced by 20th Television and Skydance Sports.
The Land premieres February 15, 2027 on Hulu.
