Lionsgate released a new trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which focuses on a young Haymitch Abernathy in the 50th anniversary of the Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. During a time when The Hunger Games may be more relevant than ever, the film takes audiences back 24 years before the events of the original and shows us where the seeds of revolution began.
This second trailer is largely focused on Haymitch (Joseph Zada) as he faces President Snow (Ralph Fiennes) and the Capitol’s forces. It doesn’t really reveal many plot points or anything unexpected, but we get a stronger sense of young Haymitch and his journey that will ultimately lead him to survival and eventually to serve as Katniss Everdeen’ mentor.
It’s a great time to revisit the franchise as a whole, with the films having recently been re-released in theaters. The overall story of youth, resilience and bravery in the face of oppression is one that we all need to be refreshed on right now.
This specific book is an extremely popular prequel, and one that many The Hunger Games fans have been eagerly anticipating in terms of film adaptations.
