The road to Spider-Man: Brand New Day began today in earnest as Sony Pictures released a 22-second video revealing Tom Holland in his brand new Spidey suit. As one might expect, the suit isn’t dramatically different from the previous classic versions, but the details are exquisite, with raised lettering and a larger spider symbol on his chest.
A Brand New Look for Spider-Man
Spider-Man’s look in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been heavily influenced by Tony Stark and his Stark technology, which makes sense given the mentor/mentee relationship between Stark and Peter Parker in the MCU. This new suit however looks like it perfectly symbolizes the title and theme of the upcoming film; a fresh start for everyone’s favorite web-crawler.
What Brand New Day Could Mean for Peter Parker
With a title like “Brand New Day,” we can expect that director Destin Daniel Cretton is taking Spidey back to his roots; no Stark, no Avengers, no public persona. Very few characters can get fans hyped with a very brief 22-second video, but Holland and Sony pulled it off.
