“The Batman” Director Matt Reeves Shares Epic Tease of New Batman Suit!

I realize this is an overused phrase at this point, but director Matt Reeves nearly broke the internet today when he unexpectedly dropped a first look tease of the new Batman suit from his upcoming film, The Batman, via Vimeo. It’s not clear whether it’s actually Robert Pattinson in the cape and cowl, but frankly I’d be surprised if it wasn’t, since it would be odd to present a test shot to the public without the titular actor.

Titled “Camera Test”, Reeves shared a clip that features some pretty epic music over a smokey red shot. The camera pans and we see a close-up of a chest the iconic bat symbol. The symbol looks to be high-tech as opposed to just being an image on top of cloth or even armor like we saw in the Christopher Nolan Bat films. Then the camera pans up and presumably Pattinson in the cowl is looking down, and then looks up so we get a nice shot of his jawline.

It’s not a lot but damn this teaser gave me chills. It looked really fantastic. Below are some screenshots from the video but definitely head over to Vimeo to watch the full tease in live-action glory!

The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, is currently slated to be released on June 25, 2021. The film also stars Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon.

This is an exciting first look at the film and I can’t wait to see more!

UPDATE: Looking at the images after I increased the contrast, brightness and clarity, the bat symbol looks like it may have been created using pieces of a…GUN! could this be the actual gun that was used to murder Bruce Wayne’s parents? That would definitely be one of the most unique ideas implemented into the bat symbol.
