Advance tickets are now on sale for Disney Animation Studios’ Moana 2. To mark the start of ticket sales, Disney released a new behind-the-scenes featurette, five fantastic new posters from the various partners, and a brand new social media contest for the biggest Moana fans.
The featurette, titled “Moana is Back,” shows Moana herself, Auli’i Cravalho, talking about her sequel film. The video shows footage of both Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson in studio recording lines and music from the upcoming film. It also provides a glimpse into the new music by the songwriters, Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear.
The partner posters are always one of my favorite elements of a film’s promotional campaign. In addition to the standard theatrical poster, nearly every major Disney film has unique posters from IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby, and 4DX, as well as a poster from Fandango. The exclusive posters are fun because they provide unique artwork for the film and still have that official theatrical poster feel.
The new set of posters for Moana 2 are fantastic, with a mix of art inspired from the film as well as more unique art. My favorite of the batch is the Fandango poster, which is an incredible art piece that looks inspired by Maui’s tattoos.
In addition, Disney launched a fun new social media contest to get fans engaged and excited about the upcoming sequel. Called “Join Moana’s Crew,” the contest encourages fans to create videos on Instagram and TikTok in response to four prompts:
- Can you dance like Moana?
- Can you give us your best “Chee Hoo!?
- Who are your Pua and Heihei?
- Can you make a Moana-inspired dish?
The contest runs from today through November 11th, a few weeks before the film’s release on November 27th. More details on “Join Moana’s Crew” can be found below:
