Marvel Animation released a new trailer for the highly anticipated animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, premiering later this month. Starting with the iconic theme song from the original 1967 animated series, which later blends into some new hip-hop music, its clear that this latest show seeks to blend the old with the new. Much like last year’s hugely successful X-Men ’97, this show seems to want to tap into a healthy dose of nostalgia that everyone loves.
Of course, a successful story cannot rely on nostalgia alone, and the creators of X-Men ’97 knew that, building on their nostalgic foundation with excellent new adventures. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will likely seek to follow that recipe, with a fresh take on Peter Parker and his group of friends.
The voice cast stars Hudson Thames, Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy and Charlie Cox, with Jeff Trammell as head writer and Mel Zwyer is the supervising director.
Trammell, who has a robust history in animation and served as a writer on the hit series Craig of the Creek, should bring an exciting and unique perspective to the well traversed world of Spider-Man.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man premieres January 29, 2025 on Disney+.
