New Footage and Posters Released for ‘The Marvels’ as Tickets Go On Sale

THE MARVELS 27x40 Dolby Supplemental Digital KA v5 Lg min 1 e1697076556210

We are one month away from the release of The Marvels. The last film from Marvel Studios in 2023, The Marvels is a mix between a sequel to Captain Marvel, and a mini-Avengers team up film. Joining Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in this adventure are Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani).

Both Monica and Kamala were officially introduced in Disney+ shows, WandaVision and Ms. Marvel respectively, making this film the first time in the MCU where Disney+ heroes will star in a feature film. Of course, we have seen characters like Kang introduced in Loki and then appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and the events of WandaVision directly led into the story in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Monica and Kamala are co-leads in this film, along with Danvers.

The Marvels Featurette – The Return of Captain Marvel

What’s interesting about the new featurette and spot released today is that while previous promotional clips have made it a point to emphasize all three in a team-up setting, the newest promotional footage focuses primarily on Captain Marvel. It’s almost a reminder to audiences that the hero whose debut film made over $1.12 billion in the box office is finally back.

One featurette, titled “The Return of Captain Marvel,” is self explanatory. It incorporates clips from Captain Marvel, as well as Avengers: Endgame, along with new footage from the upcoming film, to refresh everyone’s memory that Carol is one of the most powerful beings in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It isn’t a coincidence that one of the clips shows Carol putting a beating on Thanos himself.

The Marvels Featurette – Prepared

In another spot, titled “Prepared”, the focus is on Carol as well as her conflict with the villain of The Marvels, Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton). It shows that Dar-Benn has a personal vendetta against Carol based on events of the past. It’s a great teaser for the larger conflict we should see in the film.

In addition to the new promotional videos, Marvel Studios also released four new posters tied to the prestige format theaters that the film will be released on. Notably, The Marvels was originally not going to be shown on IMAX, which would have been a huge shame, but thanks to Dune: Part Two being moved to 2024, audiences will now be able to enjoy The Marvels on the biggest screens.

The Marvels, directed by Nia DaCosta, premieres November 10th and tickets are on sale now!
