Chef Roy Choi is a legend in the Asian community and of course the food community. His unique and innovative vision with the iconic Kogi Taco Truck changed the restaurant industry and became a source of pride for countless Asian foodies.
With his show Broken Bread, Choi’s goal is to identify broken food systems, highlight the impact of those systems on marginalized communities and society as a whole, and also to feature special individuals who continue to do amazing work within the industry against all odds.
With season two, Choi continues to use his platform to give a voice to important people and issues and now has the resources and support to reach an even larger audience. I had the opportunity to speak with Choi about his mission and passion for the show.
Choi spoke candidly about how important this show’s message is to him, how personal this season was, especially revisiting Chinatown in Los Angeles, and even how damaging the pandemic was to Kogi Taco Truck.
Check out our conversation and be sure to watch season two of Broken Bread with Chef Roy Choi on KCET and Tastemade!
