Fresh off of an appearance at New York Comic Con, The Running Man released an epic new trailer full of over-the-top action. In this new trailer, we get a better understanding of the overall plot of the film, with Glen Powell playing Ben Richards, a father who is in desperate need of money to get medical care of his child. To do so, Richards must play The Running Man, a dystopic reality game where contestants must stay alive for 30 days while hunted by professional assassins.
The high octane trailer is full of action, dark comedy and some fascinating characters, including Colman Domingo as the game’s host and Josh Brolin as the villainous producer. Director Edgar Wright is also clearly hiding some of his cards as the primary villain of the story is a mysterious masked individual.
Check out the trailer below. The Running Man releases November 14 in theaters and certainly seems like the kind of film that must be watched on the biggest screen possible.
About The Running Man:
In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.
