Edgar Wright’s upcoming film, The Running Man, from Paramount Pictures, might hit a little too close to home. Extreme income disparity? The poor unable to afford medical care? A callous society focused on reality TV? That sounds very much like life in 2025. With all that in mind, the first trailer released today packages all those sobering themes in an epically chaotic and pulse-pounded action story led by Glen Powell.
A remake of the 1987 cult classic, The Running Man is updated for a new generation, with Wright’s unique touch. The cast is absolutely stacked, with Powell surrounded by William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, Katy O’Brian, Colman Domingo and Josh Brolin.
The cast alone makes this film a must watch, but the flat out awesome trailer definitely raised my interest levels. And just maybe an action flick dealing with important themes will help more people open their eyes as well.
If that wasn’t enough, Paramount has already kicked off an epic marketing campaign for the film, enlisting the aid of viral sensation Ashton Hall, whose bizarrely intense morning routine blew up all over social media earlier this year. In a new clip, Hall is joined by star Glen Powell in mock preparation for Powell’s…run. It’s a hilariously perfect example of synergy and social media awareness that must be applauded.
Check out the trailer below. The Running Man releases November 7, 2025.
About The Running Man:
In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.
