REVIEW – Marvel ‘Miles Morales: Spider-Man #24’

In this issue, which is a calm before the “Clone Saga” storm, Miles Morales starts a new journal. It’s been a while since Miles has kept a journal, but he has some downtime as he is getting ready to go out and meet “someone important.”

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #24 is available now at your local comic book shop! Spoilers below!

REVIEW

Miles meets up with Kamala Khan, and they head out for some ice cream. On the way to the ice cream parlor they walk by a basketball court and have an impromptu game…in their superhero costumes! They both have fun using their powers and trying to outscore each other. Cute date so far.

Of course this idyllic moment gets interrupted by someone yelling “HELP!” and off they go to save the day! (Good thing they were already in their costumes). They find that a building collapsed and one of the families is trapped because the building owner/landlord had not taken care of the structure. Miles and Kamala go to confront him.

After they have have it out with the landlord, they’re finally able to get some ice cream.

Miles’ parents are very worried when he gets home. His phone had died during the day and they couldn’t get in contact with him, and it turns out someone is impersonating him and causing trouble in his name.

This is my first issue of Miles Morales: Spider-Man, and my familiarity with the character comes from his part in Champions. The whole date storyline was cute and a fun set-up between a couple of good friends. But the beats with the landlord felt off. Perhaps it just means that I have to catch up on Miles’ story to better understand what got him so fed up that he would just go off on the man. Regardless, I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the Clone Saga which will start in the next issue.

RATING – 3.5/5 Pocky
