Just in case you thought Michelle Yeoh was slowing down after her Academy Award winning performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once, she’s continued to deliver in memorable supporting roles in projects like American Born Chinese, The Haunting in Venice and The Witcher: Blood Origin.
Now she’s back in a leading role in Netflix’s crime family dramedy, The Brothers Sun. The series is about a Chinese triad family that is split between living the criminal life in Taiwan and a modest immigrant life in the United States. Yeoh plays Elaine Sun, the matriarch who just might be the most important figure in both the Sun family and the triad families as a whole.
In the featurette, the cast and crew talk about how critical it was to cast the right person for the role of Elaine. Of course, it’s hard to get more “right” than Michelle Yeoh, who is known not just for her incredible talent, but for her generosity to her fellow cast members.
“She’s so kind and nurturing. She’s always so prepared and professional,” Co-star Justin Chien says of Yeoh in the featurette.
