The kingdom of Wakanda continues to grow with the upcoming release of Eyes of Wakanda. A 4-episode limited series, Eyes of Wakanda takes fans through a journey at four key moments in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Wakanda.
Created by Todd Harris and produced by Ryan Coogler, Eyes of Wakanda finally explores the world of Wakanda beyond just the Black Panther and the royal family. The trailer shows several new Wakandan characters, voiced by an incredible cast which includes Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint and Anika Noni Rose.
I’ve long said that Wakanda is ripe with more stories to tell beyond what can be seen in the films, and hopefully this is just the first step in more projects where the world of Wakanda can be explored in more detail. Animation is a great medium for these types of stories, and and should allow for an expansion of the world that Coogler and his team have created.
The trailer also reveals of a previous iteration of the Iron Fist. This will be the first official introduction of the Iron Fist in the MCU, voiced by Jona Xiao (reminder that the Netflix shows aren’t technically fully part of the MCU). It’s exciting to see the Iron Fist in the MCU and one that is an Asian character as well. I’m sure that in the near future, the Danny Rand version of the Iron Fist will be introduced as well, but this is a great start.
Eyes of Wakanda releases August 1st on Disney+.

The new action-adventure series, which was produced in partnership with Proximity Media’s Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Kalia King, follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history.
