Eagle-eyed Formula 1 fans have noticed that for the last few years, actors Brad Pitt and Damson Idris have been seen around the racing paddock at various races around the world. Seeing celebrities around F1 races is not that unique, considering that the sport’s popularity has exploded in recent years thanks to Netflix’s Drive to Survive reality series. We’ve seen Tom Cruise, Shaquille O’Neal, Tom Holland and many others enjoying themselves at various circuits.
However, Pitt and Idris haven’t just been taking in the racing experience as fans. Instead, they’ve been decked out in racing gear and integrating themselves with actual F1 racers and personnel, filming footage for their upcoming movie on the sport.
Appropriately titled F1, the film is set to release June 27, 2025 in North America, and June 25, 2025 internationally.
This past weekend, during the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone (which also happened to be one of the best races in recent memory), the first teaser trailer was revealed for F1. As one might expect, given the efforts the filmmakers have made to immerse themselves into real racing action, the footage looks phenomenal. Pitt and Idris look every bit the part of actual Formula 1 drivers, and the on-track action is as realistic as it gets. Everything from the look and sound of the cars, to the intensity of the wheel-to-wheel action, looks like it was taken directly from a Sunday race.
Check out the teaser trailer below. We’re sure to see more of this film revealed in the coming months and heading into 2025. Considering this Formula 1 season has turned out to be one of the best seasons in years, the F1 movie is coming at the perfect time.
