One of the small but genuinely pleasant silver linings about this pandemic is that the shift to virtual allows more broad access to major events and programs. One of the major events that I’ve never had the opportunity to attend is SXSW. This year, it’s all virtual and I’m thrilled to be covering the event!
Today, SXSW announced three new Keynotes and a variety of exciting featured speakers, including Ava DuVernay, Pete Buttigieg, Jemele Hill, Charles Yu and others. Check out all the details below.

The SXSW Online 2021 lineup promises to deliver, and we’re delighted to share our wide range of programming with you.
Today the Conference added three Keynotes to the lineup: U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg; master facilitator, author, executive producer and host of The New York Times podcast Together Apart Priya Parker in conversation with Anand Giridharadas; and writer and author Charles Yu.
Newly-announced Featured Speakers include President George W. Bush, Indra Nooyi, Ava DuVernay, Chance the Rapper, Kenan Thompson, Werner Vogels, Don Lemon, Jemele Hill, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who join our distinguished lineup.
This year’s Music Festival promises to deliver a global experience, transporting you to unusual and iconic settings straight from the artists’ home countries. You won’t want to miss exclusive performances coming to you from a Taoist temple, a cable car in Norway, a Los Angeles freeway overpass, Abbey Road Studios, and some Austin hometown favorites.
