New Trailer for Disney Channel’s original Movie ‘Spin’

Disney Channel’s original movie Spin looks like a really fun coming-of-age story that blends Indian and American cultures. Starring Avantika as Rhea, the story is about an Indian American teen with a passion for music and DJing, who finds that what she wants to do, and what her family wants her to do, aren’t necessarily in line.

It’s a story that so many teens can relate to, but especially those who come from immigrant families. There are so many second generation American teens who fall in love with the arts, but know that pursuing their passion isn’t necessarily something that their parents agree with. I love that this kind of story is being told in a fun way through the Disney Channel, and I hope it’s the kind of movie that will be impactful for both young viewers and their families.

Spin also features a wonderfully diverse and international cast, including Bollywood star Abhay Deol (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) as Arvind; UK comedienne/actress Meera Syal (Yesterday) as Asha; Aryan Simhadri (Adventures in Wonder Park) as Rohan; Michael Bishop (Grace Beside Me) as DJ Max; Anna Cathcart (Descendants franchise) as Molly; Jahbril Cook (A Week Away) as Watson; and Kerri Medders (Alexa & Katie) as Ginger.

Disney Channel’s Spin Trailer #2

The Disney Channel Original Movie “Spin” follows Rhea, a relatable Indian American teen who discovers her passion for creating DJ mixes that blend the rich textures of her South Asian culture and the world around her. Her life revolves around her eclectic group of friends, Molly, Watson and Ginger, her after-school coding club, her family’s Indian restaurant, and her tight-knit, multi-generational family, which includes her father Arvind, younger brother Rohan and her grandmother Asha. Everything changes when she falls for aspiring DJ Max and her long lost fervor for music is re-ignited. Rhea discovers that she has a natural gift for creating beats and producing music, but must find the courage to follow her true inner talent.
