Marvel Studios – Celebrate National Superhero Day with ‘Black Widow’

“It’s time for her story.” That’s what Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson says in a brand new featurette that provides a quick retrospective on Natasha Romanoff’s Marvel Cinematic Universe career, starting with the first Avengers film and concluding in Avengers: Endgame.

The Black Widow has obviously played a critical role in the MCU, and many fans clamored for her solo film for years. Following her (spoilers!) death in Endgame, and the announcement that Black Widow would kick off Phase 4 of the MCU, fans wondered, “Why now?” and how this film fits in with the next era of Marvel Studios films.

Originally scheduled to be released in May 2020, we’ve had to wait much longer than expected to learn the answers to those questions. Now, just over two months away from the much anticipated premiere of Black Widow on July 9th, we’re close to finding out what surprises this film has in store.

Earlier this month, Marvel Studios released an impressive full trailer and stills from the film. While this brief featurette is made up primarily of footage from previous films, it’s a fun look back at Natasha’s MCU career.

Thanks to Disney+, MCU fans have enjoyed a wealth of content in 2021, but there’s definitely something special about a feature film, and I’m greatly looking forward to the return of the MCU in theaters.

Black Widow premieres in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access in most Disney+ markets on July 9, 2021!

CELEBRATE NATIONAL SUPERHERO DAY WITH SCARLETT JOHANSSON

New Featurette Now Available for Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow”

Experience the Movie July 9 in Theaters and on Disney+

Celebrating National Superhero Day, Marvel Studios debuted a new featurette that looks back at the illustrious career of Natasha Romanoff. Scarlett Johansson, who reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow in “Black Widow,” appears in the featurette to assure fans that “it’s time for her story.” The action-packed spy thriller will launch simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access in most Disney+ markets on July 9, 2021.

Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Joining Johansson in the new feature film are Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina. “Black Widow”—the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.
