INTERVIEW – Isabel Jones from ‘Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls’ Talks Body Positivity

The word “groundbreaking artist” gets thrown around too easily, but if there’s someone who really fits that title, it’s multiple Grammy winning singer, rapper, songwriter and flutist (!?), Lizzo. You know Lizzo is special because she gets so many people upset!

With her new Prime Video reality series Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, Lizzo is again looking to do things her own unique way by hosting a series to highlight body positivity while looking for bigger dancers to add to her team.

Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls on Amazon Prime Video

One of the cast members is Korean American dancer Isabel Jones, known for her K-Pop inspired style. The only Asian member on the show, Jones has her own experience defying conventions, which allowed her to connect with Lizzo.

I had the chance to speak with Jones about her dance background, her already impressive social media platform where she regularly shares her dance talents, and how much of an inspiration Lizzo has been to her. Jones talked about how challenging it is to be a bigger woman dancer in the Asian community, and spoke candidly about how she dealt with the negativity and harassment she sometimes faced online. She also talked about how much she appreciated being a part of Lizzo’s show and what a positive and supportive environment it was.

Jones’ story is really inspiring, and I genuinely appreciated her positive outlook and enthusiasm for dance.
