Loki is back and has the distinct honor of becoming the first Marvel Cinematic Universe series to return for a second season. The first season of the God of Mischief’s story is one of the best Marvel series to date, and gave Tom Hiddleston the spotlight that he so richly deserved. Loki is the kind of series that enhanced the overall MCU story-telling, and gave a much-loved character further development beyond the films.
The fantastic cast of characters from season 1 is also back, including Owen Wilson’s Mobius, Wunmi Mosaku’s Hunter B-15, Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie and Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Ravonna Renslayer. Joining them is just an Academy Award winner in Ke Huy Quan, fresh off his previous multiversal adventure in Everything Everywhere All At Once. It’s a joy to see him in the scenes with Loki and Mobius and I certainly hope he has the opportunity to play a meaningful and on-going character who appears in other MCU projects.
The trailer is eerie, exciting and full of intrigue, complete with an extra evil looking Miss Minutes (voiced by Tara Strong). Seeing all the characters back from the first season makes you realize how much the characters introduced in Phase 4 are missed. So many great heroes have been introduced since Avengers: Endgame, and most of them haven’t been seen since their first film or series. Hopefully, more second seasons and crossover appearances are on the horizon from Marvel Studios.
Loki Season 2 premieres October 6 on Disney+.
