People love Lilo and Stitch! The trailer for the live-action Lilo & Stitch film released earlier this week, set a record as the second most viewed Disney live-action trailer, with 158 million views in just 24 hours. The massive number trails only the teaser trailer for 2019’s live-action The Lion King, which garnered a whopping 224.6 million views worldwide within 24 hours. The Lilo & Stitch trailer actually surpassed the first day views of the full The Lion King trailer, which had 130 million views. Of course, live-action The Lion King went on to gross $1.65 billion worldwide.

In addition, within an hour of release, Lilo & Stitch reached the No. 1 spot for trending on Twitter and remained in the top 10 for several hours. The trailer also trended No. 1 on YouTube and even reached No. 1 on China’s Douyin platform. These are all massive viewing numbers, which reflect the audience’s excitement to see some of the most beloved Disney characters get the live-action treatment.
