DreamWorks’ ‘Forgotten Island’ Trailer Introduces Magical World Inspired by Filipino Mythology

DreamWorks Animation released the first trailer and poster for Forgotten Island, an exciting new animated adventure centered on friendship, growing up and inspired by Filipino mythology. Forgotten Island follows lifelong best friends Jo (voiced by H.E.R.) and Raissa (voiced by Liza Soberano), who faced with having to go their separate ways after high school.

During their final night together, they discover a mysterious portal that transports them to the magical island of Nakali, a world filled with creatures drawn from the Filipino stories they grew up hearing about.

On the island, Jo and Raissa encounter a variety of unique creatures, including a weredog Raww (voiced by Dave Franco), and the most terrifying creature on the island, Manananggal (voiced by Tony Award winning Filipino icon Lea Salonga).

Forgotten Island is written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado and is produced by Academy Award® nominee Mark Swift, the filmmaking team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The film also includes the voice talents of Emmy nominee Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, BAFTA nominee Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy and Emmy winner Ronny Chieng.

Forgotten Island releases September 25, 2026 in theaters.
