Netflix has announced that Season 2 of its live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series will premiere on June 25, 2026. The upcoming season will take viewers into the Earth Kingdom as Aang and his “Team Avatar” friends continue their journey to restore balance to the world. Of course, Season 2 introduces one of the most popular characters in the series, the blind Earthbender, Toph.
Alongside the release date, Netflix also shared new images and a behind-the-scenes featurette, offering a closer look at the cast and production. Cast members Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Dallas Liu (Zuko), Elizabeth Yu (Azula), and the newest member of the team, Miyako (Toph), preview what fans can expect as the story expands and new challenges emerge. Just the glimpses of the fight choreography alone are worth getting excited over for the second season, and it’s great to hear that the cast felt more comfortable with the first season under their collective belts.
After the events at the Northern Water Tribe, Aang, Katara, and Sokka set out to find the Earth King in hopes of gaining support against Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim), continuing the live action adaptation of the beloved animated series. Book 2 of the animated series is considered by many fans as the best season, and one where the story rose to new heights. Hopefully we will see a similar evolution for this second season of the live-action adaptation as well.
For Season 2, Christine Boylan (Poker Face, Once Upon a Time) serves as executive producer and writer. Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space, Stranger Things) is executive producer and director, alongside directors Anu Menon, Amit Gupta and Hiromi Kamata. Dan Lin and Ryan Halprin serve as executive producers from Rideback. Additional executive producers include Brendan Ferguson and Albert Kim.
